Here’s 3 ways to alleviate stress in coming out of lockdown

Here’s a reminder about being a human be-ing to counteract all the human do-ing.

Navigating the 'new normal' isn't always easy and can be anxiety inducing.

Seeing friends? Not seeing friends? Braving the outdoors? Booking a table somewhere?

There’s no right or wrong way to be navigating this transition.

Remember whatever practices you have that bring you out of a disconnected and stress state.

Maybe work is something that you find stressful, family is something that you find stressful, or you often feel that a lot of things in your life are out of your control.

Every day asking yourself

Have I consciously taken a breath?
Have I moved my body?
Have I connected with someone?

There will always be something you can do that can bring you back into balance and activate your parasympathetic nervous system, which is what we want to do when we are stressed.

This might be as simple as a 30-second breathing practice. I often recommend using a track on Spotify '2 Bells' to come into a coherent breath pattern. Equal length inhale and exhale. It's great for energising and calming in equal measure!

We all have stressful situations in our life from time to time, which is why it is important to build your toolkit of practices so that you can feel confident in bringing yourself out of a stressful state and back into balance.
